Just because the saddle says Schwinn, doesn't mean the bike itself it. In fact, the saddle looks to be much newer than the frame. The frame appears to be in rough shape and has been repainted probably. If the bike fits and you want to take it on as a restoration project, I wouldn't give more than $25.00. At a minimum, the bike will need new tires and tubes, new grease and probably bearings all around. Might need new brake cables and shifter cables. Cable housing too perhaps. Since the head badge appears missing, I would look for a serial number elsewhere, like on the rear drop-outs, under the bottom bracket shell, etc. Might turn out to be a schwinn, might not.

Bike boom bike, $25.00 would be extravagent. Stamped dropouts, nutted steel wheels, cheap components, rough condition, bad photography. Seller is dreaming.

It's worth full asking price if you found a $100 bill tucked in the seatpost.

I'm picking up a Fuji vibe off this bike. Only worth about $35 "as-is". It's way too rough to be worth anything. So, a full restoration wouldn't help increase price much. Would make a good loaner or beater bike.

This is newer than boom era based on the top tube cable tunnels. I'd place it very very late 1970s. to very early 1980s. The rear derailleur may be a Shimano Eagle II. The brake levers look like replacements. Definitely entry level and not worth the asking price.

Pretty sure this bike started as a mid level 70's Fuji light touring sports bike. As for value the price is very good if the newer brakes and sbhifter's work Ok.

I'll agree with the low range estimates. Mostly low end components, probably heavy. Based on the external cosmetics, I'll bet the internals have never been maintained. IOW minimal grease at best. Rusted, dirty grease with pitted bearings and races at worst. Some of the bearings (ex pedals) cannot be maintained. You could get lucky or it could cost a pile to get it all sorted out. You can do better for that money, much better for a bit more money.

Thanks everyone; I had my suspicions, but thought I'd ask, just on the off chance it was a diamond in the dirt. Turns out it's a rock.

desconhecido and madpogue , if it's close enough I'd be willing to facilitate, at least as far as getting it to a bike shop to pack and ship. Shall I inquire with the seller?

Thank you, but not really a bike I need. I was just
at the fact that it hasn't sold yet at that price. Besides, if it's close enough for that effort, it would be a lot better bike for you, dollar for dollar, than the white mystery bike. Appears to be close to the same size.

Update: after my initial e-mail to the seller, I noticed the price jumped to $100. After another email outlining (politely) what you guys said and hoping they find a seller, the price was reduced to $50. Lotus ad still there.

So, I shouldn't bore you with my whining and apologize for that. But again, it's a very kind offer and if there is anything that I can ever do in a similar manner for you in Houston, I'd be happy to.
If that Lotus bike is too small for you, you might try to find a late eighties Miyata 310 in a smaller size. I think they would be about the quality of the Lotus and the 48cm to 50cm models don't have a lot of demand. I picked up one for $50 about a year and a half ago though I don't think it was in the condition of that Lotus. There was a Miyata 512 offere in the Terry style, but the 48cm one we have is 27" front and rear.

Don't waste your time. If you found it in the trash it would still cost more to fix up than it's worth. You also wouldn't have much to show for your effort.
Abused, low-end bike.
