Team Fuji

This just popped up on CL. At $425, I suspect Iíll be looking at it for months to come. I have not really sorted through vintage Fuji so what are the thoughts on value of this Team Fuji? My hunch says $250 but my back pocket says $200. What does BF say?

That has potential to be a really great ride. But, in it's current condition it's probably not worth it. The seller tips his hand with the following disclosure: "it's ready to ride as is, but could use a tune, new tires, brakes need adjustment, wheels spin true". Just doing those few things will set you back about $100. So, IMHO the bike should be priced closer to $300. In my market way down here in North Florida that would be about a $250 bike. Be good. Have fun.

I used to have an 85 Team Fuji. Same size, too. In my area, tuned and ready, that is about a $300 bike. So, as is, about a $200 bike.

Sweet riding bike, too.

I had an 82 Team that was a delightful ride. I cannot compare it to the '85, though. This bike wasn't cheap for me to build up. I enjoyed it for three years and then sold it. Should've kept it...

Hard to say with those crummy pics still the frame and parts look clean. I'd value this at $250-$300. But it could easily go at $200 with the poor pics.

We have one in the same color scheme. That should be Suntour Sprint components. We paid $285. Nice riding bike and a deal at $285.

Thanks all for confirming I should wait to see if it drops below $300. I’ll let it get to $250 before I re-evaluate. Hopefully the market heats up and someone with a greater need buys it before then.

I think it a cool bike but I agree the price is a bit much. Personally I would consider it a complete overhaul candidate rather than a tune and tires deal.

I remember these getting positive reviews BITD. Cool bike if you can snag it for under $300.

If the Suntour stuff is Sprint, it should be pretty nice - shifting and braking both work very well.

With it being late spring, I would expect this to sell for around $300.

Some things to think of bargaining and price wise mismatched worn tires, rusty chain and ugly barf tape on bars and poorly done job on the cabling. As for value as is I would shoot for $200 yet if it's just the right size and one like the the pink and black colors I could see going $300 if you can test it and it rides really nice.

Prices in general seem high right now. Deals get snapped up by bored flippers and then get returned to the market with a Coronavirus tax applied. You have the right approach by leaving it bookmarked and monitoring it to see if the price drops eventually. I always figure male buyers might be shy about the Flamingo color on this Team Fuji (I like it though).

Also I didn't see this in the other pics but looking at the nicer blown up pic thank's Clang. I see the wheels don't match and are bit rough so lean more $200 side price wise.

Send the seller an email saying that you're willing to offer X amount if it still hasn't sold in a month or two and to hang on to your email but good luck with the sale. That pitch has gotten me bikes from people who just didn't feel like waiting around for a sale, last one got me an 07 C-dale tandem for 300 in amazing condition.

With the new picture that’s been posted, the bike appears to be 56cm which is too wee for me. I like the flamingo and pink colors though. From what I’ve read, the Team was 2nd in Fuji’s lineup in 1986. Sprint group is interesting and would be a draw for me. This one just might fetch $300.

Massive price drop overnight and now sitting at $280. IMO, it is now in the range of reasonableness and I hope someone grabs it.

The ad states it measures 23"on ST, 22" TT, who knows how he measured that though. Oh plus it already has 700c wheels? Would be hard to ignore for sure!

That is a 58cm but fuji measures to top of seat lug so they run a bit small, I have 84 58cm the sweet spot rider height is about 5'10+ at 6 even mine is a bit small for over 2 hour rides.

Team is basically Fuji's top of the line item. They made a couple of special bikes here and there that were better. But, this was their absolute best mass produced item. If it's all original then it's a fine bike. If the wheels are OK and shifts OK then $280 is probably reasonable. A couple hundred worth of new tires, cables, grips, chain, brake pads, lubrication, grease & bearings will make that bike better than most brand new bikes costing over $1K. Be good. Have fun.

The sweet spot with a reasonable stem and and bars preferable when on the bars your hands are over the front hub and and your but is between the the center of the rear hub and BB on the seat with your hands just reaching the bars and feet just on the pedals relaxed strait is great.

I definitely stretch that sweet spot when building 57/58s but I still prefer the nimble feel over 59/60s which I probably should be riding.

The drill for me on this Team Fuji would entail a 90 degree stem w/130mm reach, 44cm bars, 350mm offset seatpost and 175mm crank arms. Thatís sort of become my $200 ďpersonalization packageĒ every time I build a new rider. Thatís why Iíd look for this Team Fuji to hit $200 before I move on it. Hopefully someone else will buy it and use it as is.

I had 58 Team for a while. got the frame set dirt cheap. built it up and road it for few months. Really nice riding bike. and I'm usually comfortable on a 58. I would agree on these riding a bit small. I found the top line and the wheelbase were a bit short for comfort on longer rides.

I’ll bring some closure to this one for those keeping score. The price got as low as $275 and the listing was gone today. I’ll assume it sold and will also assume it was somewhere between $250-$275. If so, I think a fair deal for both parties.
