Identifying vintage frame with spade lugs
Hello!
I was recently searching for a used road bike in Rome for while I'm living here and picked this little beauty up for €250 from a not super reputable looking shop. A friend of my partner collects bikes and we sent him some pics cause this has some nice welding/lugs. He mentioned the spades were a confente thing, but other parts of the bike don't seem to match that identification. After doing some research it seems to me to be a bit of a tribute to confente anyway. It's obviously been painted over so no clues there. There's a "2" marking the bottom bracket and a matching "2" on the fork. Any ideas about what I might have here?
Thanks!
I will try to post pictures, maybe in a follow-up post as the forum is not currently allowing me to "post urls"?

Sorry I seem to be unable to post either photos or a link to an album until I have ten posts but I'm not sure how to go about doing that without spamming you all.

...until you have 10 posts, they get stuck in an album that can be accessed in your user profile.

...a lot of people have used that sort of lug cutout over the years. As you have probably surmised it's doubtful it's a Cinelli. Based on what I see in your gallery, it does look like a pretty nicely made frame, but I have no idea who might have made it.

Based on the long brake reach and the high stack on the headset the bike was made for 27 inch wheels which date it to the late 60's or early 70's. bike that has been fully rebuilt with newer components and very nice but but obviously home done repaint. So hard to I to Id to me it looks more smaller builder British than Italian which may be a good [lace to start. Some things that may help with ID positive dating are seat post diameter and a pic of the under side of the BB.

Thanks for the replies and the info about how the forums work! I'm not a super big bike nerd, mostly just like to ride, have just been seduced by the mystery of this frame.
I did add some pictures of the underside bottom bracket, it has long cutaway areas and a "2" engraved on it (same as under the fork). No other sign of serial numbers or anything though, but again, hard to tell with the paint job, which we had to chip away to uncover the "2" to begin with.
