86 3rensho Athlete

Was given this recently and knew nothing about the make or vintage bikes in general. So had a little search online and learnt a few things. Especially how rare these can be. Most of the parts seem to be original just need a suitable wheelset to complete.
Contacted yellow jersey as advised on here and they have told me it's an 86 3rensho athlete. Cant find much online about that model.

Not looking to sell but would be interested in seeing what's it worth in current condition and price if I repaired and resprayed frame.

Theres a dent in the seat stay that needd some attention but dont think it effects the geometry

IMO, if you decide to sell you'll get the best return and most interest by selling as is. The folks who would be interested in paying a premium for it would rather see the damage and have the repair and paint done to their own standard. Again, JMO. Cool bike.

If you go the route of repair, you can mitigate the drop in the bike's value by documenting the damage with good, detailed pics and moving forward with Yellow Jersey if the price works for you. Yellow Jersey is a very well respected operation, especially with frame repairs. Don't have just anyone fix it.

You should also explore with Yellow Jersey what it would cost to repair without repaint, it that's possible. Damage knocks value, but on a bike like this, a repaint could also hurt value.

unfortunately I live in ireland so dont think it would be cost effective to send to yellow yellow. Would definitely do my research on repairer if I do go down that route. Bot sur . Will they and give it a go a touching it up and a good clean and polish.

Seat stay dent is a bummer. Take it to a knowledgeable frame maker & they can probably fix that. Just leave the original finish alone. Whatever you do, please don't repaint it. Remember, it's only original once.
