1991 Miyata 912 54 CM

Good morning,

What is a fair price to pay for an orange 54CM 912 in Minneapolis? Appears to be original and in very good condition; a few minor paint chips

https://minneapolis.craigslist.org/h...129545121.html

What issues might it have, what should I look for? Are the 700c Araya rims. decent or should they be upgraded?

Thanks in advance for your advice

John

That bike looks to be in excellent shape and won't need much except perhaps new tires

I think that $299 is a very good price but, since it is on Craigslist, offer $200 and see what happens

No way its a 1991 model, not close. More like 1981. Serial number listed in ad is wrong.

Priced about right IMHO for what appears to be a ready-to-ride higher end Miyata.

If somebody offered me 2 for that bike I would delete their response. Have deleted many a response in my day......

On second thought that is not the place to buy a bike now.

If you look online you can find the Miyata catalogs for 1980 and '81 and in both years they offered the 912 in orange with 600EX components. Each had hi-tension steel front fork and weighed about 23 lbs.

The 912 in any year is a great bike and if it fits you, $299.00 is not out of line in my opinion. I'd want around that if I were selling one, but that would likely be in ready-to-ride shape. If that example needs new tires, etc., it could be a bargaining point, but be prepared for a "no" answer.
