1988 Cannondale SR500
Looks to be near mint. Seller said that is was his Fathers and he didnt ride it much (ya i know) very clean VERY little wear on chainrings. All 105 components there. Tires look almost new. 53 cm Frame

If it fits you and is really in nice condition, could be anywhere from $175 up. If less, run to buy it. Right now people are dragging stuff out if the basement and asking crazy prices, so would not be surprised if seller wanted double that and got it quickly.
If not used much, the original Wolber rims will have minimum wear. 88 was, in my opinion, the best year.

The problem is is this a description, or do you know all of this to be factual?
And which version? I am not sure if this could be a Black Lightning version or not......
$200-300 for a regular version, and more for the Black Lightning version. Condition dependent.
You will have to change the tires unless they are recent replacements.

Rims show no pad wear at all. 1 or 2 chips on frame no rust no dents

Condition should help this one stand out from the pack in a local sale. I would think $250-$300. I do not recall an avid bike culture from my years in Detroit so maybe on the lower end of this range if this is still the case.

That bike is lovely, gorgeous even, you won't have any trouble selling it. I'd be very firm on the price in any negotiation, it looks worth it.

It's small size helps on a sale.
I had a 600 that was a pain to sell. Large, but not as large as it looks in the pic. Was a 25 Inch Frame.
And just as clean in powder blue. Paid $50, sold for $200 ten years ago.
Cannondale has either a cult following, or haters.

It's a great bike that rattles your fillings a bit over rough roads, but handles like a stable dream, but will stay put when hammering the pedals. No flex side to side.

I am sure some are great, the old Trek 660 that was a beauty could handle it. To much reach though, another problem with vintage bikes.
Won't turn a vintage bike down depending on bike, and price, but will have to buy modern for comfort, performance.
Have to pay $$$$'s

I don't get any teeth rattling from my vintage steel bikes. The only Cannondale I ever rode was certainly a tooth-rattler but it was super fast. Aluminum fork + aluminum frame and 120 p.s.i. = harsh ride.

I don't think there was any difference between frame materials, design, and all that on 53cm racing frames back then. They were all super stiff in the small sizes. I think mine was the 300 model from about that year. Same frame? I loved the bike and replaced the suntour stuff with chorus as I could afford it.
