Old Peugeot... How old and what model ?
Old Peugeot... Help appreciated.
How old and what model ?
A neighbour gave me this old white Peugeot today. It came to me minus brake levers and all cables & housings.
Nothing but potential, with Mafac brakes, Stronglight cranks, Simplex dropouts, levers and derailleurs, and nice lugs.
AVA stem & bars, Stronglight Competition head set.
Reynolds 531 sticker still visible but fading on both fork legs. Chromed forks and stays., See pix.

Can anyone date it by the plain gold decal on the down tube ??

Looks like a 1967-70 PX-10. You have front and rear chrome ends, Simplex Criterium derailleur, Inoxydable decal, remnants of a Reynolds 531 decal on the fork, and a Stronglight 93 crankset, all hallmarks of a PX-10. The brake levers are incorrect and should be Mafac. The seat post should be Simplex, and the saddle should be either a Brooks Professional or an Ideale.

WONDERFUL !!
Thanks for the reply. I was hoping that it was a good one.
Fifty-year-old PX-10 is good.
I will repost a picture here once I get it cleaned up.

Here is your inspiration pic. Over the winter a friend restored this 1969 PX-10.

That is indeed a PX10 and one of my favorite bikes.

If the original Simplex rear derailleur is on the bike, you could check the back side of the pulley cage for a date code, this might narrow down the year.

Mafac brake levers on sale here: Mafac Brake Levers
I cleaned it up a bit last night and took it for a ride today.
There was a stitched leather saddle with it as hard as wood.
And the cable clamps and pump hardware left rust stains in the paint.
It is actually pretty nice - not as nice as my Thin Blue Line Lightning Bolt, but still very nice.
I will re-home it ... Any idea of suggested value ??
