1982 Trek 613 - What's It Worth?
I'm looking into this Trek as my first road bike. I'm not sure if vintage is a great move for this, but it fits the budget and some of these older bikes still look quite nice. Plus the new stuff is a little picked over at the moment.
Frame: 22.5"
Wheels: 27x1-1/8"
Tires: Continental Ultra
Suntour front & rear derailleur
Suntour tube shifters
Dia-Compe brake levers, and front & rear caliper rim brakes
SR Sakae crankset
SR Laprade seatpost

I would run away from that one. So many things are wrong with it. First off I would bet the seatpost and stem are stuck. Not sure what going on with the painted rims, hubs and fork but I wouldn't want to find out.

Jesus I can't believe I didn't notice that it was a custom job on those wheels.
Running away, the search continues. I'll be looking more carefully for sure, but at least I learned this one the easy way.
Cheers

Suntour BL is reasonably nice but not particularly valuable. This is still a vintage steel Trek frame, if I saw this mess sitting somewhere for $50-75 I'd grab it but I don't think I'd go much more than that considering everything else wrong with it.

A chain would be handy if you intend to pedal the bicycle anywhere.
Also, make certain that the seatpost and stem are not frozen in those positions.

If I saw this on the side of the road I would say, "hey look a Trek". Then when I got real close to it I would come to my senses and keep going. As mentioned it may have a little value but if I figure the time into doing anything with it I am upside down in $$. Oh and I promised myself I would NEVER touch another bike with a frozen seat post. This is how far I went on the last one that was stuck. Yep, I used the stuff gangsters put in bath tubs.
