Batavus Champion road bike- help!!
Hi everyone!
I just picked up a yellow Batavus champion road bike, looks older maybe 1970's (?). It looks good and all of the original tubing is there.
I don't know what the bike is worth, can anyone help me? Paid about $50 for it.

Are the wheels fitted with 27 x 1 1/4-in tires? Does it have IC (Intercycle) in the graphics package? Where the rear brake bolts onto the frame, is that a flat plate, maybe marked ESGE - Pletscher? If it runs and it fits, $50 is a good to decent price. The early to mid 70s versions were the Batavus equivalent of a Raleigh Record or a Peugeot A-08, classical gaspipe tubing with decent bike boom parts. I had the next model up, the Tour de l'Europe, which upgraded to a chrome-tipped fork, high-flange quick-release Normandy Sport hubs and a Sugino Maxy 3-pin crankset. It was actually a pretty cool bike, and I rode mine all over southwestern Virginia, including a 3-day cycle-camping trip on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

rustystrings61 pretty much nailed it, I think. This is a Batavus spec sheet for the US line-up in those days (not sure of the exact year):
