hi all, i am a new comer here, i wonder if you could help me...
now there is a guy selling his 12 years old, but very good looking and in good condition Dahon Tournado at almost $1200(including suitcase), is it worth?

$1200 is a lot for 12 year old folding mini bike even a really nice one is a lot. I would think in most markets this would be half or less the current ask. Where are you located as it can make a huge difference on a bike like this one? In some of the hotter Asian Markets about $1200US might be possible while in a lesser US market it would likely only go for a couple of hundred.

The Tournado isn't a typical small folder. It's a road bike based on Tom Ritchey's BreakAway concentric seat tube design:

$1200 is a decent price including the case - about half of new, at least in the US.

Keep in mind that you're bumping up against the 50 lb. weight limit for international travel when you put the Tournado in a hard case for your trip. One thing I've learned is that you don't want to exceed that limit and get charged extra at the point of travel.

yes, exactly, Asian market is hotter, in China, a new local brand touring bike with Reynold 725 steel frame, customs built wheelset worths around $1000, international brand even more expensive, like Surly LHT, it’s about $2000. But I think shipping fee is the key element, I once asked a retailer in the US who can ship a frame to China, he asked for $350.

Hi, I have a Tournado. I bought the frame from Bikewagon ($400ish) several years ago and build from mostly from my parts bin. It’s an awesome bike! Current build, I’ll list below, comes in at around 21 lbs with pedals and cages. I’ve flown with the bike, in a Ritchey softcase, about 10 times and have never been charged. I usually pack the bars in separate luggage but everything else including shoes, a few kits, saddle bag and some spares go in the case.

I probably would not pay $1200 for it with an outdated drivetrain. You can probably get a used Ritchey Breakaway for that price.

i like the bike at first sight, but don't know what the riding feeling it is, since it's very rare to see such a 'old fashion' bike in my city, and as far as i know, it's never sold in China. i once wanted to buy a similar frame in ebay, but the frame is in good price, but considering shipping fee and tax, it's out of my budget...
so maybe it's a good choice for me to buy this tournado after checking its condition and making for a bargain.
