Bought frame with serial # What is her breed?

Serial # = p7106682

the frame came with no information. definately double butted chrome-molly steel. If I had to describe the frame in a few words I would say " a nice honest lightweight frame that could make a good project... ...bought from a charity supporting good causes - another ebay purchase..

1. Are there digital records of serieal numbers somewhere on the internet?
2. How are they searchable?
3. it would be a powerful tool, if I could take this info on bike hunting trips?

Hope to get some pics up here soon...

My dentist used to tell me, "Knowledge is King"

Thanks

In the cycling world, words are good but pictures will get you a more thoughtful response.....visit 10 other threads and offer your thoughts, after that you can post some pictures.
Best, Ben

Serial numbers are not always unique. Also, they do necessarily tell you the brand, as huge volumes of bicycles were contract manufacture by other companies other than the one on the head badge. You have 10 posts, so you should post a good set of pictures, It would also be helpful to know if the threading standard is English, French or Italian. Dropout brand? Any markings on the steering tube? Seat post size? All can help tp narrow down the year, level and nationality, if not the actual brand or manufacturer

For Asian bicycles, see Asian Serial Number Guide
There are at least a couple of formats in there that would fit that serial number.

Given the serial number, its seat tube location, Tange #2 tubeset and frame features, my leading candidate would be a 1987 frame manufactured by Pacific Cycles of Taiwan.
