Vintage Iwai Grand Prix?

Hi Guys,

Saw this Iwai? bike for sale, seems to be full 105. Does anyone know this brand? Listing says it was used for a triathlon. The groupset looks to be in bad shape. What do you need to do to restore a groupset? How much would you say this is worth?

Seems to be remnants of some sort of wrapping.

For what I see the it all looks really good minus some rust on a couple of bolts. What I look for is, are the cranks worn down? The rust on the chain is probably superficial that will come off will wire brush. The rest probably only needs clean and lubricant.

I don't know this brand but the frame looks good/very good quality. A Rolls saddle- very nice! Clean and lube. New chain. New cables and housing. Probably tires too.

Check the function of the shifters. If they work good you can still expect them to get "sticky" at some point. That can be fixed but it is not a fun job. Check the frame for damage where there is (looks like) tape residue. Value is less than $200 USD to me.

One thing to note is that it looks like it has a tubular wheelset, which are incompatible with regular clincher tires. Maybe you're OK with that, but it can be a deal-breaker for those that don't want the fuss (and expense) of tubulars.

Is the frame your size? I don't see a lot of small frame Tange 1 bikes for sale.

I was thinking $50-100 given the amount of labor involved to clean, overhaul and touch up the bike. Perhaps $50 more if this is your size and will be a "keeper."

I am asking the seller for the size. I cannot seem to find much about the frame but it is currently going for 100USD without shipping. I would say 10 or 20 USD more for shipping.
Is the overhaul something I can do myself? Is it easy to learn to do?

How can you tell they are tubulars?
