Trek year identification
Trek year identification.
The serial number is H5C4A and another two numbers which are hard to read.
According with Vintage-Trek the H gives the model as 710, which should be. The frame and fork are Reynolds 531 marked.
The 5 gives a 25.5" frame, which is correct.
The C gives probably the month.
But the 4 should give the year 1984?!?!
This kind of s.n. was till 1980.
After that the s.n. was only numbers.
What am I missing here?

Crash Test Dummy
I've owned two Treks with similar year digit discrepancies. Others have reported the same thing. I guess it's just not 100% reliable.
