Good deal or not?

Hello boys!

Paid $150.00 for this beauty last night. Here she is after a little clean up, and a new saddle. In perfect riding condition. She's currently being hidden from my wife lest she kill me in my sleep.

You had better be talking about the bike.

And for that price, the spousal unit should not kill you. Maybe glare at you for ten seconds, but killing you would be a serious overreaction. I mean, $150 for the frame and fork alone should not rate more a half-hour's worth of the silent treatment.

That's a pretty nice deal. I had a DeBernardi a few years ago. Thron tubing, I think it had a 26.8 or 27.0 seatpost. I paid $150 just for the frame.

I've got a 1995 DeBernardi Thron that I bought as a bare frame a couple of years ago. Completed it with early 1980's Campy Super Record parts. It's a great ride but the total cost was well over $1K. Yes, you got a good deal.

I occasionally do cash work and stash the money in my tool box. I had quite a bit of cash saved up and pulled the trigger on my Medici. My wife doesn’t care about me spending money for something I want but I have...um.... a lot of bikes so she gets frustrated when I get another one. That bike sat on my stand for about three days and I thought I had flown under the radar and maybe she wasn’t paying attention. We were in the garage and she said”when are you going to tell me about your new addition?” I think you should just fess up and deal with the consequences, that was a killer deal. They know things .

That's funny because that's more or less how my situation goes most of the time, lol. I can only hide them for so long before I get caught, I swear that woman has eagle eyes.

Better than the $150 Giordana I found a couple of years ago, and quite possibly even better than the $275 Della Santa, but only because of the Campy, instead of the Ultegra that was on both of these.

I have an Aelle equipped DB that was my first Italian bike --- my shop got the frameset new from Zar International in 1995 - built it up with a new take off Campy Mirage parts kit from a carbon Giant or Specialized , and i was off to the races (literally) with my Italian Stallion !

YEars later in 2016 through '17 , i built it up the way i wanted back then but didnt have the money.

The bike in its original fashion got me from Cat 4 to 2 though --- i went through wheelsets like nobody's business as most of the racing ws crits and circuit races --- weighed maybe 21 lbs with GEL 280's and Sprinter tires -- more like 23 with the stock Mirage /Lambda wheelset and wire bead Vittorias ---
Yes - heavy as hell considering 17 and 18 lb aluminum and carbon bikes were common in the mid 90's , but bike was reliable and totally worth restoring !

my restored bike

catalog shots of Zar International eye candy (including yours )

I posted these catalog scans a few years back but its been awhile - so why not post again? The black Gooch EL-OS bike is still drool worthy -- well, all of them are actually
