Barn Find
My friend owns a 1974 Schwinn Le Tour that is a Barn Find. Nice Red paint, low mileage, works like a dream. The problem ,is, the owner has fallen back in love with machine. It is rebuilt and run like new. I offered $150.00 as is. He had to think about it. My question is, how high should I go without going paying too much?

Wait, $150 for a barn? Seems reasonable to me.

In this market, $150 sounds fair for a bike in good shape. The pandemic and consequent crises in the economy, manufacturing and shipping jacked up prices for some bikes and components. Bike prices in my area are usually reasonable, but are still inflated compared with pre-pandemic prices. I'd be surprised to see any decent 1970s Schwinn for an asking price under $200 now.

$150 would be more than I'd want to pay for a 70's Le Tour by about $100.

Buy it !
ya can't blame him for falling in love with it again, maybe he looked at new bike prices and figured he could probably barely buy a set of wheels for the 150.00 bucks 🤔 that he almost sold his old steed for, look at Walmart bike prices are insane for a new cheap bike, that Letour is a classic and probably made in Japan, if you really like it and he's willing to let it go at all now, 200 doesn't seem unfair at all, (comparatively speaking) sure, if you wait it out you will be able to hunt one down for less but WHEN ? Are you going to miss all this great riding weather waiting to save 100 bucks ? And I think that is the first year for the Japanese Letour as well ? That's kind of a cool aspect of the bike too ! I think if you ride the bike, ANY bike and you love the fit...the ride...the style and history OF the bike and you don't have access to to many bikes around there then 200 bucks seems like a great deal to me....I love the old schwinns though so I am kinda biased, he may not even want to trade the 200 bucks for his bike, how's he gonna replace it for that ? Money doesn't go to far these days ...unfortunately. Good luck man, I hope you get it, you
