Gianni Motta Value?

Considering selling my newly restored Gianni Motta.
this is an ideal candidate for L’Eroica.
58cm

Test ridden for several miles and needs nothing.
Would confidentially and proudly ride and show at any event. Bike rides as smooth as any other bike I’ve ridden and feels new.

Painted last month using automotive grade 2 part finish. A couple of chips due to my impatience 😖. Will be properly touched up.

Decals have been placed in exact locations using measurements and are straight. Headtube decal is the correct type with championship rainbow.

Forks are original chrome with some surface oxidation. This is intentional for some patina. Can easily clean off.

Groupset is Campagnolo Athena in exceptional condition.

Pedals are in very good condition with minimal signs of wear. Spindle caps have no scratches. Toe clips have zero rust and show as new. Original Campagnolo white leather straps.

Rear derailleur has minimal scratches to a corner.

Brake Hoods are in beautiful condition and original, non reproduction, vintage Campagnolo. Brake levers near perfect with very fine scratches.

All cables are new. Housings are new Shimano.

Brake pads are original Campagnolo and nearly new and not hardened. Chain is new KMC

New Cinelli gel cork bar tape.

Brooks Swallow in beautiful vintage condition. Chrome rails and hardware very bright and not showing oxidation.

Wheels just trued and bearings greased.

New inner tubes and Continental Classic tires.

Bottom bracket has been serviced and spins smooth

headset serviced and Newley greased and moves smoothly.

Handles perfectly and is as quiet as can be with zero creaks or squeaks.

Tough to provide an exciting value.

For a sale, I would address the paint flaws, rotate the bars to a more expected angle.
Lower the seatpost to the limit line.
slide the rear wheel forward at least to the midpoint of the dropouts, replace the adjusters. if the adjusters cannot go, that is a problem.
if the axle cannot slide forward due to the width of the tire, this is really not an Eroica bike. It is an 80's road bike. fast, nimble, at a time where 23mm tires were Wide.
Gearing is Eroica useful to only the strongest.
your climb is for those who are attracted to Motta's, this has a paintwork that is too calm.

Nice bike

Were it mine, and since it has new paint, i'd polish the fork for top $$$ --- bike looks great though

I wasant familiar with the brand so had to do a google search when Repechage mentioned the "subdued" color scheme --- he did put out some eye popping paint jobs at times, but found quite a few solid color examples too

Perhaps the pic that entertained me the most was the pic of Gianni Motta himself looking very much like George W here :)

Great eye! The likeness is on point. Agreed on the Gianni Motta having some Interesting paint jobs. Adding photo of the before. Truth be told, I prefer the elegance of a simple paint job. I can always follow the original paint scheme with yellow against the blue. The combo works with proof from the decals.

I'm not sure how to price yours but the things I look for (expect) with a Motta are flashy paint jobs and the curved seat stays that are shaped sorta like a coke bottle. I'm forever hunting for the american flag paint job in my size. One available locally to me but it was too big. Bike mechanic buddy picked it up though so I did get to fawn over it. One day....

Yep. That would be a Gianni Motta 2001, 2001r and 2001 fly. Maybe some of their latter track tames as well.

This is an earlier frameset and a fair amount were much less graphic and single colors. The single color frames have more vintage feel.
