TugaDude, thanks regarding the Ross! The bike store guys (all in their 20s, the owner is maybe 30 max) really dig it; they told me to keep it too. They’re all collectors (one has 52! Bikes in sheds - And I thought I had the itch bad . Hahah!

Wow. I took it for a quick ride around the block (after a brief test ride at the seller’s house). It rides so good! I’m so happy - bought myself a great Christmas present.
Thanks to everyone who posted on this thread! You guys (and lady - is my friend BianchiGirl here?) are better than the best!
Oh and here it is - hiding in plain site. 😉

Good to see it found a good home! I picked up an '89 Circuit JUST before the pandemic shut things down, stole it for $100, it's been my go-to roadie ever since. Alas, the RD had been swapped for a Tiagra or some other middling Shimano, but I had a period-correct DA to swap in. The Sante is VERY hard to keep looking good, and the brake release in the lever instead of a cam on the caliper is just plain dumb, but the bike overall is a delight to ride.
That ^^^^^^ chrome Ross looks a lot like mine, except that one is way cleaner.

Crazy not to fully overhaul it before putting any more miles on it.

Hey Gang,
Any tire recommendations including sizing? According to the Schwinn catalog, I think it came with 700x19 new. It’s currently running 23’s BTW.
Thanks!

Keep the 23 or go to a more comfortable 25!!!!!
And keep away from road salt !!!!!
It kills everything!!!!!!
Once that hits the road....no more riding for me.....until nice rain comes along to wash it all away 😁😁😁😁🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲
Also glad it went to a good owner who will appreciate and take good care of it 🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲

Any make/model tires I should look for? Folding vs. wire bead? I’m looking at Panaracers online now.

It gets better. The ad said "make an offer on the spare set of wheels." He ended up throwing in the wheels -- Sun aero rims on absolutely buttery Phil hubs.
+1, I'm running 25s, and for my age and speed, they're plenty fast enough and not nearly as teeth-ratting / nail-biting as 19s or 20s. And +1 on the road salt, this time of year is when the beater MTB comes out.

I have panaracer pasela AND Continental 3
The panaracers have more tread....the good......great traction.....the bad.....picks up every little pebble !!!!!
Continental 3. Which are about 30% less money have less tread, but I have these on 4 bikes!!!
Foldable ones I got on Amazon.
I think they were about 23.00 each
No issues with either tire.
I also have Gatorskins on one bike.
Cannot go wrong with any of these 3 choices
Good luck and again.....congratulations on a great pretty rare bike😁🚲🚲🚲🚲😁😁😁😁😁🚲🚲🚲🚲😁😁😁😁😁🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲

I took the Schwinn for a ride today. Fibers started coming out of the tires. Hahaha. Good thing I was close to home. It still felt great though!
Shifts precisely. Smooth ride, excellent handling. Love it!
hwre is the link to the Vittorias in case anyone is interested. Or if you have experience with them, please let me know. Thanks.

Those are good basic tires and have the bonus of looking pretty close to the oem tires for this bike.

Hey guys, the hoods came out good right?
Man, the bike was dirty. The detailing is mostly done. I’ll wax it next but first maybe a couple of paint touch ups.
By the way, the shifting is surprisingly precise. In my very humble opinion… I feel like it’s better than the Ultegra bikes I’ve ridden. I’m interested to know whether you think that’s possible.

Did not Santa just deliver it to the wrong house?
the Ross is a whole different type of use.
not sure what Bertin you have, in general they were pretty relaxed, the Schwinn is not.
I see no reason to not keep all three.

Question about replacement stem
Would anyone be able to recommend a replacement stem that would place the handle bars a little further out from the head tube? In case I’d like to stretch out a bit more.
Apologies- I realize I may not be using the correct jargon.
Additionally, I plan to ask the LBS experts about fit. A mechanic there happens to collect vintage bikes and asked me to bring the Circuit in to have a look. Just interested to know your thoughts in case a longer stem is suggested. Thank you.

But, measure the stem from bolt to midpoint of handlebar clamp and it should give you an idea of present length.
Then, replacements are plentiful depending on your price range.

As for the shifting the internals of the Japan made stuff were basically the same so the crisper better shifting is likely because of the smaller tighter free hub spacing and tighter cleaner cabling.
