Value of an old Italian frame and fork?
This miscreant has been hanging around my shop for more than a few weeks and it is time for it to go. Any ideas as to the value so I can price it correctly? Thanks, MH Pics:
It says it is Italian.
I measure it as 56 ctc or 57 ctt.
Fancy paint in sparkly silver.
Old aluminum head badge.
Cromor tubes for both frame and fork.
Another cryptic logo in Italian.

Wasn't this frame on another thread and was described as PC'd (powdercoated)?
If it is, it looks like the powder coating was done quite well. Still thicker looking than regular wet applied paint, but not that thick like others I've seen.
Powdercoating classic bikes is not always well accepted by collectors because of the loss of "resolution" on the frame details due to its thickness, so it will always take away some potential value from the frame.
Not sure if the PC matches the original paint color on the bike, but color will also be a factor as it has to look "right"/correct to the period and model of the bike. (The PC might be a little too metallic?)
This nice Pinarello frameset might have fetched maybe up to $600 if it had its original finish in VGC/no dents, rust and scratches. But refinished, it will be hard to put a good estimate to what someone who does not mind the refinishing will pay.

Chombi1,
Yes it has been coated and decaled with close decals to original. It came out of Florida and had a bunch of salt sea air damage to the original pink and black paint, peeling decals and some pinhole rust spots. Coating it seemed the right thing to do to make it a rider again for someone. It is not a grail bike since it is a Cromor tube build, and nothing in the top range of frames. All I am asking is for a fair value to put it into the hands of a C&V Forum member. Hope this clarifies what I want to know. Smiles, MH

I think it looks fantastic compared to when it came in, it's a world of difference. New life for an awesome Cromor frame!

I think you or whoever did a good on job on the repaint clean up so I would say $150-200 or so to the right buyer..

shoota,
The bead blasting that occurs at Pro Kote Indy knocks down any rust spots that might be in the frame. I worker in the steel sheet industry in the '70s and got to see plenty of the pinhole rust in the sheets we produced. If the rust was treated with a good blasting it was mitigated, but with a slight depression where the rust was. It was about .002" that is mostly not discernable to the average feel test. HTH, Smiles, MH

Everyone has different ideas on value and in the end none of us are "right", but having said that I wouldn't take less than $200.00 for it. The powdercoat itself is worth half of that and more in some markets. Here locally I couldn't get a frame with a quality powdercoat for anywhere close to $100.00. YMMV.

First thought - phew - it's not my size.
$250-$350 depending on how/where you sell it.

...as a larger, heavier rider, I have always found Cromor frame tubing to perform admirably in meeting my needs. I feel like it often gets short shrift, when it should get longer shrift.
