Raleigh High Flange hub 96mm 36H "JAPAN SAT.NO.5 SUZUE"

Came across a Raleigh high flange hub 96mm spacing. Flanges are 71.5 mm diameter, 36 hole. The bearing retainers are stamped with "JAPAN SAT.NO.5 SUZUE"

What is this? Is it worth anything to anyone? Came from a donor parts bin. Feels lowish quality. Very lightweight.

SUZUE products were formerly marked S.I.W. - which stands for Suzue Industrial Works

are there any markings on barrel or does it just say "RALEIGH"?

It's a stock front hub off a early 80's British Raliegh that had the Raliegh branded Japan built component group not really worth much in poor shape with no skewer there were a tone of these made. Yet if have some of the other nicer Raliegh branded parts that would have come off the same bike such as the nice SR crank or Suntour dr's those can be worth some pretty good money.

thanks! Thatís helpful. Many suntour derailleurs found and being sorted through yes. Well if anyone wants a high flange hub they can have it. Out of curiosity I regreased it and itís ready for a 2nd life though possibly not worth the shipping charge.

The Suntour DR's if in good working shape with nice pulley's should be worth some money $25-100 plus shipping each depending on model overall condition here on BF's or Ebay.

The value will be highly dependent on the condition of th cones and races. Still, even in good condition, I don't see much value. These were typically found on upper entry level models, and while the Raleigh branding offers some additional value, most Raleigh owners at this level aren't collectors who have to ensure their components are OEM correct.

Suntour AR II is listed. Broken hanger but mech is good. Suntour Seven and V-GT Luxe in the queue.

I’d prioritize your effort. Complete, clean Vx GT would be first. Anything missing parts or broken either sell as a lot or use the parts to fix the better ones. I always remove both pulleys, clean them and the cage too, add grease grease and reassemble. Just sold a Vx Luxe GT today.

Personally, I really like Suze high flange hubs. The OP's, however, targets a really small market and to get any reasonable price for it patience is a must. Until a buyer who needs a Raleigh pantographed hub, there will be no market. Were it me, I would do as the OP has done and offer it, for free, to a fellow BF member or simply put it away until I got more Raleigh specific components and an appropriate Raleigh to install them on. In fact, I have done exactly that for my Legnano Gran Premio. Though it has taken me years to collect bits and pieces, I now have Campy high flange Legnano pantoed hubs, a Legnano specific cottered crank set and a Legnano embossed head set that I will get around to installing one of these days...

The point is that collecting brand specific components can pay off handsomely one day, assuming one is patient and lucky.

I think you'll find OP offered it up for sale on Ebay and posted the link to his auction.

Not sure if I read this wrong but it does sound like he/she is offering it "the hub" to one of us directly - not through Ebay...

From post #5 "thanks! Thatís helpful. Many suntour derailleurs found and being sorted through yes. Well if anyone wants a high flange hub they can have it. Out of curiosity I regreased it and itís ready for a 2nd life though possibly not worth the shipping charge."

yes just let me know. Will happy turn on offers and accept $0.01 from a BF friend. I take parts to sell and sometimes I find they just need a new home. In those cases I learn to pick better next time but am happy seeing things get a second life and donít worry about revenue so long as costs are covered.
