Nishiki Sports Special

I've never seen a bike like this and I'm wondering what it is worth. A neighbor gave it to me. I fixed it up for my wife. She hasn't touched it in a couple years. It is a Nishiki Sports Special. Made in Japan. They don't show up good in the pic but it has stick shifters.

this was the very bottom of the range of "tenspeeds" for the NIshiki brand at this time

date appears ~1971

rear brake hanger has gone missing

whether made by Kuwahara or Kawamura most Nishiki brand products are fitted with MAEDA gear ensembles

the Shimano gear ensemble paired with Takagi chainset seen here is slightly unusual for the marque from WCCS

would expect its gear block to be Shimano as well

hubs may carry an S.I.W. marking on their barrels

valuations: "as is" garage sale ~$50

classified advert: "as is". ~$85

Actually, bikes "like that" are plentiful. Cottered crank, stem shifters, step through frame, steel rims, nuttted axles, stamped drop outs, claw RD mount, etc. Bet the seat post is steel too. Entry level from that era regardless of brand or model. Many bikes might have a few of these signs. Its when the bike has most or ALL of those attributes, its really bottom end.

Value is all about your location. In some areas, its about $25, in others, it might be $100. Not good enough to sell on that well known auction site.

Thanks. I appreciate your help. It's not worth taking up space in my shed.
