1987 Motobecane Le Champion

A friend has two (his and her) 1987 Motobecane Le Champion road bikes. Each was ridden 3 times back then, and then hung-up in the garage.Looking for approximate value.

... a lot on value depends on current condition, work/parts required to get them roadworthy again, and location. Also how/where you plan on marketing them. I don't remember what they looked like in 1987. But even bikes that were only used three times and hung up in the garage in 1987 require a remarkable amount of time and money as project bikes for the new owner. I have one here older than that, that had some cosmetic and mechanical issues. I live in Northern California, and I paid between $300 and $400 dollars for it as a project. I had to paint it, among other things. I probably paid too much, but it's a nice frame, and my size, and I wanted one for a while in the lavender color they used for a while.

'87 and French? I doubt it.

If they're mint, original '84 or earlier bikes, they might be worth $700 or more (each).

Couldn't locate much info on a 1987 Le Champion, but enough to see it had "inexternal" lugs and Columbus tubing. In '85 it was Columbus SL, so very nice material. I located an article where someone showed a 1988 Le Champion and it had Shimano 600 components, again, very nice.

I have two Motos and they are both outstanding machines. I suspect you won't have difficulty in finding buyers.

If the condition is superb, I could see the men's model (assuming it is a popular size) going for $500.00 and up. In some markets maybe $700.00 or more. A quality women's frame in a decent size can also be very popular.

Yes, it will need servicing and possibly new rubber, etc., but for collectors that won't be a deciding factor.
