Mystery bike value? Parts ??
Picked up this bike from the metal recycling.
I think it's a Peugeot but they used simplex.
This has Suntour
is any of the parts
desirable???

What is the brown color? Rust? Paint? Primer?
It has a little value, but not a lot.
Perhaps $50.
Or use it as practice for experimenting with bike mechanics.

It’s really hard to tell if this is a turd that someone put nice fenders on or one of the rare nicer bikes with good bones but crappy dropouts.

Its a turd. But for free, I'd salvage the wheel skewers, the Suntour derailleurs, the cottered crankset, and the Mafac brakes. All will have some value. Clean and well presented, you could get $74. to $100 out of those parts.
Fenders have some value too.

No real rust on the bike.
it's a fairly lighter bike
Maybe 25 pounds
It would be a great candidate to experiment with but will probably take the parts and return the frame to recycling.

Peugeot did use Suntour derailleurs on their lower end bikes like the P8, in the early 80's.
This does notook like a P8 though as the P8 was lugless.
The stamped rear dropout does look very similar to what was found on Peugeots in the late 70's and very early 80's so this could still maybe be a (Euro model?) Peugeot under all that non-original paint and accessories.

If the frame is straight and it fits, it would be worth messing around with it. They don't make fork bends like that anymore. Probably rides very nicely.

Thanks for all the great replies !!!!
Today I saw some numbers stamped at the dropout area. The paint has covered most of it up.
I will get some paint thinner and get the serial number, and take a pic.
I had a white UO 8 in the early 70s. And like this, it had the " death " stem !!!!
The tires are shredded but I pumped them up today and they hold air !!!!!!
So the tubes appear to be good!!!
I MIGHT use this as a project and paint it a nice color............

Numbers on the rear left drop out is 3237
How would you "roll out" the bend in the rear plastic fender as mentioned above ?
