Anybody know anything about this Hinault bike? Worth?

Hand engraved serial number starting with 63 68. Blue bike with Hinault written in multiple spots. Seems most parts on it are Italian and French. Also has a sticker that says Colorado.

Did Hinault ever ride for Gitane? The color makes me think of them.


it looks like with a good deal of elbow grease and some TLC it will be a great rider. What are the parts? Did you try looking in the Classic Rendezvous listings? It’s probably a good machine the question is who was the contract builder

I agree I think numbers are likely someone’s way to identify it.

Hinault rode for and was the star of the Renault-Gitane pro cycling team (1976 to 1985).

Agree that the homemade-looking number under the bottom bracket was a previous owner's addition. You should look in all the various locations where a serial number might be found on the frame, including under the plastic cable guide next to the hand-engraved numbers.
