1984 Centurion Pro Tour 15 (now 18)

I've decided this beauty isn't going to be a keeper in my tight garage, so I'll sell it when the weather starts to warm up.

It's pretty close to original. Suntour drivetrain with bar and shifters, modern Tektro brake levers, leather Vetta saddle and carbon seatpost, Old Man Mountain front rack. Six speed freewheel, so now a Pro Tour 18! The big change will be obvious; it's all chrome with replacement red decals (RIP, Velocals).

I'm in Tulsa, so not a great market for oddball bikes like this one. No real idea what to ask.

Here's the thread from when I was working on it:

That's a good looking bike. I'm curious, was this painted originally and then stripped down to the chrome?

Yes, he shows the original condition in the thread he provided a link to.

It was originally painted black over chrome, and the paint was in terrible condition. I knew it was chrome underneath when I bought it. Turned out to be surprisingly easy to strip and make it shine!

Wonderful job here, well done! I would dig out a clean HS top nut from your bin or a nearby co op, that is the only flaw I see.

In my market, touring bikes have taken a sharp turn DOWN, so selling for me either means a low price or ebay. If you have the stomach for ebay, I'd head there. Then I might ask $600 (high for sure, but chrome is always good).

Youíll get the highest price for sure on the auction site, but I personally donít like the trouble of dealing with those buyers. After auction/payment fees, you might end up with 400-450.

Problem is, listing locally, or even on our bikeforums for-sale section, would almost certainly yield less than that. Less hassle though.

Beautiful bike, have a couple pro-tours myself (Ď80, Ď84).
