Paint challenged 1983 Trek 720
I have this seriously paint challenged Trek 720 that I should probably let go. When I got my hands on the bike, it was missing lots of paint. I took it on a cross country trip in '97. I rebuilt the bike and slapped on some seriously ugly rustoleum paint to protect the bike figuring I'd repaint the bike eventually. I never have. I've stripped the bike down to the frame, but the pics are from my last build which was as a single speed. I rode it as a lock up bike for a few years figuring the ugly paint made the bike perfect for that job. 
This is a bit of a side note but the Modolo cantilevers are very good and they allowed me to run 700c wheels on this bike.
How much is the frame, fork, and headset worth? The frame is straight with no dings and the A9 headset is in fine shape.

It is a really great from with a lot of history I wouldn't part with it for the current market price of $125-150 with bad paint.

I'm working on a 1979 710 right now. Until I rode this bike I didn't realize what a step up the 700s were from the 400, 500, 600 road bikes of that period. Completely different feel.

This is a touring bike unlike the other 700 series bikes, check the chain stay length! The 900 series road bikes were Columbus equivalents, without a touring version.

I didn't make this clear in my first post but this is a full 531 frame with what I believe to be an investment cast bottom bracket and fork crown. The 700 series Treks were top end bikes.

No, it's full Reynolds 531. The 700 series in the 80s were all nice bikes; not that true temper is anything bad.
