Lemond (Billatto?)

Hi All,

Would you mind letting me know what you think the market value may be for the below Greg Lemond bike? The seller is asking $350 for it.

The bike has Dura-Ace components, as seen in the below pictures, and according to the ad, "Ultegra hubs". The pantograph on the brake bridge says "Hand made", hence my thought it's a Billatto bike. However, my concern is that I don't see any labels on the bike in the seller's (below) pictures. Nor do I see a head badge.

Additionally, I can't seem to find a direct comparable via a search of E-bay's "Sold" listings. I'm wondering what the market value may be (e.g., in the NYC market or on E-Bay).

Lastly, apologies to those of you whom I posted privately the same inquiry above. I’m on vacation and leaving shortly and I just came across the bike.

I would appreciate any information you may provide. Thank you!

I'd say $350 is not out of line, but based on the photos I'd take a long look -- probably a repaint, with some scuffs, and some of the components seen in the photos look like they've been well used. Assuming it fits you and you want it to ride and you take it for a spin and like it I'd be ok with that price at the top end given it's apparent condition issues, but would aim for less.

On the underside of the BB should be some stamps to help identify what tubing the frame is. There should be a stamp there for the frame size and under it should be some 1-3 letters that will identify the tubing type.

As examples:

The TX indicates Columbus TSX

The C indicates Columbus Cromor

Provided the inspection does not yield surprises, I’d say the seller is right on the money. The Dura Ace bits alone can bring $300.

It’s nice to see something priced to move. Too many sellers would list this at $500 and pollute our search results for the next year and half!

I think $350 is a fair price with Dura Ace stuff and a well built pre-Trek Lemond.

Thank you, Jamesdak. Very interesting. I may be back in the area again and, if so, maybe I would check it out.
