Specialized Allez

Not really vintage, I dated it around 2008, but wanted some feedback if $100 and 50 mile drive worth it. Previously, I had 2004 Allez, which was too small, so I sold it. I really like how light and maneuverable it felt. I'd like it to replace my 2012 Roubaix with Sram 2x10 drivetrain. This seems to be Shimano 105 2x9, 58 cm.

Not really C&V but that's a lot of bike for $100. The kind of bike that would be worth transferring the parts over to a C&V frame, or ride it as is if that's your thing.

Parts alone are worth the cost of entry. Go.

A lot of people would consider the carbon fiber Roubaix an upgrade over the aluminum Allez. I guess it depends on what your riding style is.

Regardless, $100 is a no brainer. Go get it.

I'd like to flip Roubaix as I got it dirt cheap and it's in mint condition. I'm afraid to add scratches 😂

Allez has similar geometry and very light, so thought it would be a good replacement. It is a Tiagra with 105 RD. Cleaning up really well, no rust, just a few scratches.

I have a 2008 Specialized Sectuar that has the same A-1 alloy frame with lesser component's. It has a real nice ride quality very smooth for a light fairly stiff bike. I think you will be very satisfied should make for a great budget trainer very good price.

Check the frame carefully for cracks. Specialized honored a warranty claim on an 2006 Allez aluminum frame for me during covid - crack developed on the head tube. Replaced it with ... another Allez.

+1 it's a good idea to closely check for frame cracks or dings on either alloy or carbon frame sets of this general design age. The thin walls mean that a bit off abuse or a minor crash poor storage and cause significant dings or cracks.
