Bike Value

I have a Fuji Espree 12 speed in original mint condition. I bought somewhere between 1981 & 1984.

I am looking to see what it is worth, as I use a mountain bike where live because of the proximity to a state forest and the overall terrain of the area I live. (Western New Jersey - Yes we still have farms & Trees!)

Anyone have any idea/interest?

I have a 1984 Fuji Espree in very good condition. I can't tell you what yours is worth but I'd love to see a photo of your bike. By the way, the third number of the serial number should indicate the year the bike was made. If it's a four, it was made in 1984, etc.

Well it looks like one of the Mods moved it to the Value sub-forum (thanks mod).
I have an 85 Espree in like new condition.
I once read someone describe the Espree as an upper entry level bike. I'd agree with that description. There's nothing outstanding about the bike, but nothing is crap either. It has a triple butted valite frame, duel QRs, alloy rims, alloy sleeve bar, Suntour AR or ARx derailers and shifters. Decent brakes, alloy seat post. The only component on the Espree that is really low end is those lousy brake levers, otherwise the components and the frame are "nice", not great, just "nice".
You are very close to a really hot bike market. If you sell the bike in the NYC, east Jersey area, and you sell in the spring and if the bike is ready to ride, no flat tires, no chain hanging on for dear life, then I would think you'd have no trouble getting $150, maybe more. If you sell it in an average market, which is what I would guess western NJ is, you'll get about $100 now, maybe a little more. If you list it for $200 and someone goes for it, sell it. IMHO that's excellent money for that bike in any market.

If you haven't been to the Classic Fuji website there is lots of info about your bikes there.
http://www.classicfuji.com

The serial number chart below was posted by T-Mar.
http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...highlight=fuji

SERIAL NUMBERS 1980-1987:

Serial number format WXYZZZZZ where;

W = a letter, presumably indicating a Fuji facility or contractor. To date, samples have included F, I , J, K & S.
X = a letter, indicating the calendar month of manufacturer (A = January, B = February, C = March, etc)
Y = a number, indicating the last digit of the calendar year of manufacture (0 = 1980, 1 = 1981, 2 = 1982, etc.)
ZZZZZ = a five digit number sequence, probably indicating frame number during month

Example: FB125349 indicates the 25,349th frame manufactured during February 1981.

$150 +/- around here, depending on size and the ability of the seller to properly market the bike (great pics, great description, etc).
