Greg Le Mond TI-Raleigh Team 753

Dear Members, In 1979 I purchased a TI-RALEIGH 753 TEAM frame set from Michaels Cycles in AMES IA
The Frame came with a letter of providence that stated that Greg Le Mond rode this frame to Victory at the Junior World Championships in Argentina. Thirty years later I still have that frame. I don't know what to do with it. Is it historical, Valuable or should I get it repainted and just get over it.

To be realistic, letters of provenance only have meaning if they have supporting evidence such as photos. Considering also it is frame only, the provenance becomes even less important. My question is what do you want out of the bike? A rider? Then does it fit you? A case for historical might be made, but so what? You would have to find the right buyer for that to come into play. If it is in decent shape, I would leave it as is and ride it if it fit me. If it did not fit, I would sell it. 753 Raleigh Teams can pull a good price, depending on color scheme, size, and condition.

I'd be very concerned with changing a thing on that frame. Provenance, if confirmed (or confirmable), on something that was raced by one of the top three American cyclists of all time is definitely of value and possibly makes the thing worth a real fortune.

Maybe you ought to write Greg Lemond himself, and ask him to tell you about the bike?
