1989? Nashbar w/full Suntour Ole

I picked up this Nashbar with full Suntour Ole groupset
-Sugino Cranks w/cycloid chainwheels
-Suntour Ole front and rear der.
-Suntour Accushift
-Ole stem
-Dia Compe Ole brakes and levers
-Sansin Ole hubs

I did a full tear down and rebuild, probably got around $180 in this bike. It shifts clean and crisp, rides very tight and smooth.

Anyone know what this bike model is? How much did it sell for new? And what is it worth today?

I love it! I have no clue as to value other than to say about $200 simply because it is super clean (now) and unusual. unfortunatly for Suntour Ole' was not well received nor did it work as well as shimano at the time.

too bad it it so big. looks alot like a Shogun

That frame almost has to be a GT frame :) I'd say you can probably get about $200 for the whole bike, depending on the market (the fact that it is a generic model with a not so light frame set and quirky components, drops its value). If I were you I would part the bike and put the full Ole group on ebay. It is a wild card and I am sure that certain people are looking for it, but there have been not a single Ole bit listed there on the last month (or at least as far as completed and current listings go)

Parts worth more than the whole. Nashbar branded bikes do not get much interest around here. Ole bits are a wild card, but could get sizable response off ebay. Large size is also a negative. Usually takes me a long time to find buyers for bikes that size, and then I have to discount them significantly.

$150 to $175 max local sale in this area. Could get that much or more for just the Ole bits. And it would make a nice keeper.

Thanks! I kinda figured about ~$200. Actually restored it for my son, this bike frame is huge....just look at the headset length! Figured it would be a good first road bike for him...not to mention how much fun it was tearing it down and bringing it back to life.

Starting another project now for me, old Diamond Back, very early 90's or late 80's. I think it might be a Tange frame.

Yes, $200 is about on par. I bought a nashbar tour bike with suntour XC and a sugino triple crankset for $135=> bargain in my mind for a great commuter. At 60cm it was too large, and I ended up swaping components and putting the frame in storage. I am not sure what to do with the frame, but it was a good, tight tour bike. Chances are - I will give it away or donate it to the bike co-op at some point.

80's-90's Nashbar frames in my mind are under-rated. If you have room - I would recommend doing what I'm doing -> if there's room, store the frame in a box for a while. Although not a rare, collectible item - you may run into someone looking for a larger frame to pass it along.
