I just picked up a blue Bianchi 12 speed

I need to get a photo of it and post on here. someone replaced the front fork with some pink fork. but the rest of the bike is darker blue and has Bianchi decails. someone switched out the seat tube/ seat/ handel bars/ neck/ brake leavers. I think it still has stock derailers and rims. I was trying to find out what model it is but I don't see anywere of a model. someone put cheap brakes on the bike. I was ready to pass it up at the thift store for 10 dollars until I saw the name on the bike. At first glance I thought it was a cheap bike.

Until you do you're not going to get much response.

oh I forgot to say the hub on the rims have say chair and have a photo of a chair.

Bianchigirll 03-03-10 01:57 PM

$10? not a bad buy. are both hubs "Chair"? nice steel frame vertical drops in a older frame interesting. what model is the crank and the brakes?

it looks like an early '80 touring frame. that is the only one that I see with the split cable stops at a that position and the vertical dropouts. the '80 model or perhaps the '81 (I do not have a '81 catalog) the '82 has the Vdrops but cantilever brakes. the fame is simply listed as Bianchi A.R. Double-Butted

it did have flat bars from the factory

Jason1976 03-03-10 02:12 PM

both hubs are chair. no idea if thats good or bad. the brakes look like cheap replacements. I need to go down stairs to see what brand is on the crank. not sure if there is a model listed or not on the crank.

You did very nicely for $10. If this bike fits you I suspect you'll be happy you brought it home. I particularly like that deep metalic tone of blue, and the frame looks to be in good shape. I suspect it will polish up beautifuly.

Some of the pictures are out of focus. Am I right in reading Shimano 600 on the rear derrailleur? If so, things are trending positively for you.

Let the forum members know what other information you find on the components, as that will help fill out the picture.

Jason1976 03-03-10 02:28 PM

Sorry about the focus. The camera does auto focus and if I get to close to an item it wants to focus on stuff in the background and not what I am trying to take a photo of. yeah its a shimano 600. SILSTAR is on the crank, DIA COMPE on the brake pulls and the brakes.

maybe the brakes are the right ones. they were painted black and It made me think they were wal-mart specials.

The brake levers are silver and are DIA-COMPE. The shifters on the handel bars are broken and need replaced.

Bianchigirll 03-03-10 04:57 PM

on the '80 the cranks is listed as a SR Alloy 39/52T the brakes are Diacompe 730 with touring levers.

this will be a real nice bike when you get ti cleaned up and running.

Bianchigirll are you still in camp hill? at least if you are your in the good area of harrisburg. I found this bianchi in the good will on cameron st.

Thanks for the info.

I wonder if I can find paint for the front fork so it doesn't stick out as bad as it does now. pink with blue just sticks out. I am sure it's not stock.

Jason1976 03-03-10 06:58 PM

I think I am going to end up flipping this bike since It's to tall for me.

BillBinder 09-08-10 01:54 PM

Jason -- I think you may have the same type of bike that I do.

I had a blue Bianchi 12 speed given to me a while back... Blue frame, Touring handlebars, Gold Decals, Decal with the name "Touring" on it. I am trying to figure out the year of it but have an incomplete serial on it. If you are still following this thread let me know if yours is similiar. I Googled my bike and came up with your thread.
