Schwinn Super Le Tour 12.2 -- Did I get a good deal?
Hi ya'll!
I'm brand-spankin'-new to road bikes, but as I knew I was going to grow into one eventually, and because it's tax time (yay!) I decided to finally get a sweet lil' honey of a bike.
Schwinn Super Le Tour 12.2,
Blue and lovely,
Everything is in great condition, a few scrapes or scratches here and there.
I want to post pictures, but I'm having trouble... I'll just have to give the link that the seller gave me: https://cla*****.com/700/311274/
He was asking $200 for it, I got it for $180... how did I do?
Thanks!
Vanessa

You did fine. That is a fair price for this bike, which seems upgraded with 600 bits, if everything is properly adjusted and lubricated and the wheels are true. Speaking of, first order of things should be removing the seat post and stem and reinsert them after you lube them first. Great purchase. BTW, the 12.2 was an indication of the weight of the bike (in kgs)

Okay, and will do (once I figure out exactly what that means, haha!). I felt pretty good about it, but a little confirmation never hurts.
Thanks!

Vanessa,
Very good deal.It is a double butted Chrome Moly steel frame-big plus-has a built in derailleur hanger (sure sign of a cheapo bike of that vintage is a rear derailleur that is held on by the rear wheel) aluminum wheels etc.
People-buyers- love Schwinns-and the Asian made Schwinns from that period are good bikes. Those brakes-Diacompe 500's?? -actually work.
Folks on this forum only crow about spectacular deals( when they steal some widow's Paramount for $80).You made a well above average deal for a big city with many college students.
What is that white stuff on the ground?? Don't see that very often in NOLA- probably helped you get a decent price.
Luck
Charlie

Vanessa,
Nice bike. These were on the upper end of the Schwinn line up. The main frame is 4130 Cromoly. One of my favorite rides. Had one in all chrome that I sold (stupid move). You will enjoy the ride. What's up with the bullhorns?

+10 You did great. For the price of some cheesy Xmart bike you bought a bike that will last you decades, and hold its value/increase in value in the years to come.

If anyone else wants a Schwinn Super Le Tour for a bargain $100, look no further - nothing to do with me and I just had a peek on ebay to see what was around!
