value of raleigh international 1973 circa

have a chance to pick up a 1973 champagne color raleigh international. it looks like its in very nice shape. all nuovo except weinman centerpulls. 27 in tires. the guy want 400.00 for it. not very familiar with english bikes as most of mine are italian. its a 54cm. all original. thanks!

That's a good one: full Reynolds 531, including fork and stays frame. I think that the price is more than fair if everything is working as it should be, but getting a bike like this for a rider, you have to deal with the 5sp max freewheel limitations. Those centerpulls got to go, btw. If you are familiar with Italian bikes think of what you would pay for a same vintage SL bike with NR and act accordingly (maybe subtract $50 or so for the lesser stem, bars and such). The International was the second from the top (after the Professional) model in the Raleigh lineup

thanks for the info. i did notice that the bike has a braze on for the rear center pull brakes. how do i get around that if i wanted to go with record center pulls?
