De Bernardi

While picking up a pump today, I was poking around the "back shop" and found a De Bernardi w/ chrome Columbus fork. The bike is HUGE (64cm) but it has some cool components; Campy rims (atlanta 1996 decals on them) deep V w/ shimano hubs (8spd), shimano tri-color crankset and brakes, shimano Titan RD, shimano rx100 brifters, Cinelli anatomic bars. It's in decent shape w/ a few nicks etc, no dents or tweaks. It's purple w/ green and yellow and a half chrome rear triangle. The frame is lugless. I forget what the model name is but maybe you gurus can figure something off of that info. The guy offered me the bike as is (rear brifter doesn't hold tension on the bigger rear cogs and drops back down) for $200. It is way too big for me, but the components are intriguing and he offered me the rims w/ tires (half decent shape) for $50. Let me know what you guys think.

Not that I have $200 to spend but....

W/out pics, what do you think I can get for the frameset? It has internal rear brake cable routing.... Or would it be better to separate the frame from the fork? Jim, if I get it and decide I can live w/out the wheels you are first in line.

+1

You could probably double you money. Those RX100 brifters ebay for $85 a pair + (and I am not sure that the rear shifting issue is not incompatibility with the RD or incompatibility of the RD to shift into a big cog. Never heard of Shimano Titan, btw), you already have an offer for the wheelset, the crank will get you $50-80, the bars $25 add about $50-75 for the misc bits (unless there is a Campy seat post there, which itself could bring that...) at least $125 for the frame (great likelihood it is Columbus) and it adds up...

I know.... I know. If it all goes through, I'm going to try to ride this thing home. A 64cm frame will be HUGE for me, but damnit I'm going to ride it for a bit! It's too cool not to

Oh yeah, I went back and looked at the bike again today. It's TIAGRA crankset and RD not Titan (I need glasses).

All the bikes I have had with Columbus dropouts were top end model, I can't say the same for Campagnolo drop outs.

The OP has neglected to tell us that he purchased it while implying in post #11 that he was still looking. Shadiness in c&v.

The only thing that was purchased were the wheels. The rest of the bike is still there. No shadiness here.
