1994 trek 2300 for $300..good buy?

Searched my local CL and found a guy selling a 1994 trek 2300 for $300 says hes upgrading and doesn't need a spare bike. I always need a spare bike.. or 50th.....

i post the link but that's all the info he provided here's the bikepedia page...

https://www.bikepedia.com/QuickBike/BikeSpecs.aspx?ItemID=17241&Type=bike

I am a little concerned about the alum lugs and carbon fiber. Ive often been looking for a trek 7900 and have heard rumors that the glue they used likes to fail randomly after a while esp in the seat stays. Should I be concerned? Any truth to this rumor?

I'm a big fan of the 600/ultegra groupo from almost every year so its age doesn't concern me. Its wear might. I'd have to see the bike first...

So given an almost like new condition would you buy this bike?

If it fits, yes. Those Shimano 600 brifters are pretty popular.

+1. If it fits $300 is a fair street price.

Bonded joints coming apart is over rated.

At $300 there is ZERO flip potential.

+1 At $300, flip is not a good option. Reselling it for about what you paid for it is a reasonable expectation, if you are patient and good at marketing. Hard to do that with a new bike!!!

+2. You cannot expect to make money if you flip this bike after spending $300 to acquire it...

I didn't say flip it for a profit .... But I am really good at marketing and very patient. I can probably get $500 without trying. Try not to flame me for it. I once sold a vintage miyata mixte with a bent seat stay for $200 and sold a Roadmaster MT Fury for $100. If I enjoy the bike I'll probably keep it and throw a modern Ultegra/105 groupo on it.

Bragging about stuff like this will make people less likely to want to help you with appraisals.

To each his own. I picked up a mixte last year that ended up with a bent stay (bad inspection on my part). I donated it. I won't knowingly sell a damaged bike. $500 for a $300 bike, I couldn't do that either.

I count on repeat sales and referrals. I have even taken bikes back and refunded the money when the buyer changed their mind. Its just what has worked for me.
