Trek 2500 project
I really don't want the frame just the components. The guy is asking 200. which is WAY more than I want to spend. Should I try to get him down or walk away and buy the components I need stem, bars, brake levers, wheels, F/R derailliuer?
"Selling a 1990 Trek 2500 road bike. Comes with all Shimano 105 components. This includes 105 derailers, 105 crankset, 105 front and back brake, 105 brake levers. The only things missing are handlebars, saddle, chain, and pedals. Right now I just have a wheelset off an old bike on it that has no tunes or tires on it. This is an awesome project bike for anyone. The frame is actually a part carbon fiber and part aluminum. If you want to see some
pictures just shoot me an email. '

$200 for an incomplete project bike is high. And since you are just looking for parts, the price is way too high. I have paid quite a bit less than that for drivetrains complete with wheels, chains, cranks, derailleurs, stem, seatpost, handlebar, bottom bracket, and brifters. For a DT shifter 105 bike, I think those prices are too high. And who knows if those wheels are decent?
I would pass.
I would pass.

I was going to offer 100.00 but I do not know if I should. My better judgement is telling me to walk. It has been on CL for over a month.

If you could get it for $100 I would go for it. Think about it this way, you are not finding ANY Trek frame on ebay for less than $100. There are people on ebay trying to sell that bike complete for $600. I know that is outrageous, but I think they could probably get about $400, just because of the CF factor, from someone who doesn't do their research.

In my books that was a steal. If all you want is the parts the frame alone will easily recoup your $100 on ebay. If you're in a big market, I'd even try listing it on CL for $150 and see if you get any takers. I am almost certain that in Toronto the frame would be gone quickly at $150

I tried to pick the bike up last week and the guy texted me that he couldn't do it but could Monday. Well Monday was no good for me so I offered Friday due to the 2.5 hour drive for me. He agreed so I planned to make the day of it w/ my son seeing he was out of school and it was @ the beach. I contacted the guy today to see if everything was a go for Friday and he informed me he sold it.
This is the daggone 4th time folks have sold me out. It is really irritating to me. There are ZERO bikes worth a crap in my area so I have to drive 2 hours to see anything worth buying. By the time I get there or can arrange to get there it is sold out from under me. And these are not the best bike to begin with.
All you people who live in larger city please rejoice in the fact you have ample bikes to choose from. I really have to scrounge.
