Tech Canadian Cycling Company bikes - looking for info

I picked up this bike called Tech elite.
Good components but I've never heard of it and don't know much about the frame.
Here is what I know about it:

Shimano deore DX shifters
Shimano deore LX hubs, Cantilever brakes, cranks, chainrings, Front Derailer (date codes Most 1990, RD is 1994, can't find the date code on the FD)
Shimano STX rear derailer (SB=1994)
Tange MTB CroMo Butted tubing Made in Tiawan

Any ideas on this mystery Bike? Is the Frame better than True Temper GTX double butted Giant frame I have?

I have not figured out the yearly colour and decal schemes for "tech" so I don't know what year this is.

I did more searching and found out several things about the manufacturer:

CycleTech Canada Ltd., Calgary, Alberta. They were in existence in the mid/late 1980's and early 1990's.

Their bicycles where labeled as "Cycle Tech" or "tech". Bikepedia only goes back to 1993 and has "tech" listed for that year.

Some of their bikes where exported to Europe. Holland and Austria.

Check component codes on stem and seat post. But it looks like typical 1990/1991 bike. Actual year will not affect value anyway. No, I don't think it is any better than your Giant. Given how high you have the seat post, it may not be a great fit.

This is a pretty good bike for sure. But I would prefer the DB TT Giant, assuming fit, overall condition, etc., are comparable. Not a lot of value to a 1990s rigid frame MTB around here, even one with good parts. And one with an obscure brand would have less value. But given MTBs have low value anyway, keep the one you like the best!

"Made in Taiwan" according to the label - So I would not be surprised if it was made by Giant too - regardless of what the logo says.
It looks like a good bike but I'm sure your other True temper bike is none too shabby either.

- But neither would bring you much money - so you might want to keep them both around, and put slicks on one, studded on the other.

I've got too many bikes as it is. Right now I am riding the tech because it is rigid and the giant has Judy XC shocks that need new elastomers that I can't source. It seems old suspension forks are not worth overhauling. I would love to get some 1-1/8 rigid forks for the GT. Sorry the other bike is a GT corrado not a giant. Still a good 90's mountain hardtail, needing new forks though.

Back to the tech, it's got a 1-1/4" evolution headset and forks. That makes it harder to swap forks if possible at all.

@hummer - your bike does seem too small with the seat post that high. It's a Nice Tange infinity double butted and "tapered" frame, better than mine. Nova must be a higher leven than the elite. Also thanks for the links.

paulzinho,

the elite was a higher end model than the nova. The difference in the frame is due to the year of manufacture. Your bike is newer than mine and manufactured near the end of CycleTech. From some of the other forums it seems that CycleTech lowered the quality of frames on its consumer end bikes before it went under. They were probably trying to increase sales in an attempt to stay afloat.
