Looking for Raleigh 28" rear rack for DL1
Would like to purchase a rear rack for my '73 DL1 Raleigh that would be in keeping with the vintage look.

if you like how mine looks (http://www.flickr.com/photos/7811784@N02/4610633380/), I suggest you call the good people at Joe Bike in Portland (503 232-1107). They hooked me up with a flying pigeon rack for 15 dollars plus shipping-- they may be able to do something similar for you.

alr,
thank you very much. I have a lead on an original Raleigh on another forum. Waiting for photos. If that path dead-ends I'll definitely give Joe Bike a call. Your rack certainly appears to meet the criteria of fitting in with the looks of the bike. Where did you get the 24 tooth rear cog? tsg |
tsg,
I got the 24 tooth cog at a lbs here in Seattle: Aaron's bicycle repair-- it is really nice for these hills we have, but I do tend to cruise around in 3rd on flat ground when I find it. Good luck with finding the real deal-- post a photo if you find it. -alr |
I've been thinking about one of these for mine.
Red Barn: Roadster Rack |
Red Barn rack
I purchased a Red Barn rack for my DL1. He was very accommodating and a pleasure to work with on the project. I had him extend the rack 2" to increase the useful space beyond my Brooks seat bag. Very good craftsmanship and robust build.

I just acquired his and hers 70s tourists and need rear racks for them. Thanks for the recommendations.
