help IDing and pricing an early 90s bianchi campione
I am e-mailing back and forth with a guy that is selling a Bianchi Campione. He says it is an early 90s model, mostly shimano RX-100 components. Really funky (most would say ugly) marbled metallic fuschia paintjob. There seems to be some discrepancies in his description. He says the frame is Italian Made "Columbus Tange Steel." But as far as I know, steel is either Columbus or Tange, not both. In the pic he sent, you can make out what looks like a Tange decal, and a Superset-II decal... and it doesn't look like there is a "made in italy" sticker anywhere. Wouldn't tange steel and shimano components suggest a Japanese frame?
I am not a collector, just someone looking for a cheap daily ride. I don't care about Italian vs. Asian frame, I just want to know what I am buying. From the one pic I have (included), it looks clean. I have asked for more pics, or at least one of the drivetrain side. It would be about a two hour drive to check the bike out, so I want to minimize the chance that I am just going to be wasting my time. He is asking $250, which seems a bit steep considering it is not a desirable color and probably not Italian, but I am just speculating here. What do you think?

Hello welcome tot he forums. great color! I really like that bike the Celeste model had decals that color and was nice too.
lets see the frame was.... OH where is the catalog ah it is a '93 Bianchi SuperSet-2 with Tange seamless DB ChroMo tubing. Triple butted ChroMo fork. then RX-100 group with downtube shifters.
if there is anything Italian on the bike beside the Bianchi decals the seller put it on. it was a great bike just all japanese. the original price was about $650. if it is really clean and ready to ride $250 doesn't sound too bad

Great, thanks for the quick info. I am going to check it out soon and take it for a test spin. I am thinking the seller is not trying to be dishonest about the frame make. Just misinformed... which could end up being to my advantage. If it does need some tune-up work, what do you think a more appropriate price would be?
