Whats my Benotto worth?
Hi, this is my Benotto, would anybody know what it is worth/ what age/ what model it is? It looks like there is a dent in the seat tube, but I can reassure you that there isnt!

if that odd looking spot on the seattube is what I think it is I'll give you $100 for the 'kit'. some here may have he encyclipedic knowledge of Benottos like I do Bianchis and be able to tell from that pic the year and model but most can't. so you would tell us.
is there a frame tubing decal? the size of the frame.
what kind of derailluers, shifters, cranks, brake calipers and shifters, bar and stem.
this bike looks to me to mismatch parts, the aero brakelevers post dat what looks like a Suntour ARX rd and a Campi NR or clone crank. are the rims GP4s? what kind of hubs?
also you should look this over too. https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...rum-Guidelines

is that fork.... LOL (just kidding)

Show me a close-up of the lower section of the seat tube, and some better detail pics of the frame, and I'll tall you what your Benotto is worth. Deal?

Probably. If it's the OP's bike and it's not dented, I don't think it's out of line or that burdensome to ask for a conclusive pic before making a valuation I might be quoted on. I would find photographic evidence more "reasurring" than the OP's say-so.

Hi guys, thanks for your advice, I have now seen the bike and it definitely isn't a dent! (phew!). Most of the gear on it is Mavic; the hubs, the crank, the rims. I cant remember what make the rear derallieur or middle shifter is. The brakes are shimano 600's, which I find highly suspicious! The bars are cinelli as is the stem. Im not sure about the levers on it, but they are still wired the Italian way (i.e. R hand back brake) Im not sure what the headset is as I couldnt read it properly (might have been in Italian!), but it wasnt the campagnolo I was looking for! The forks are Reynolds 531 but the inside of the chroming is not in good condition. The frame is not dented, and needs a good clean, but in places the paint is lifting. I had a look all over the frame for a model number, but couldnt find anything. Its a very light bike considering it is a steal frame, and the teeth have seen little wear. I will try to get some closeups at the weekend. Thanks! Sam

If the fork decal is correct, then the fork is a replacement (not sure why i didn't notice this before). This affects value, as a) it's non-original and b) it makes potential buyers suspect the bike has been crashed at some point. The Mavic parts are an odd match for a Benotto, but they do have some value - of course it's not all Mavic. Frame is late 70's/early 80's. Hard to tell if it was made in Mexico or Italy; my guess would be Mexico. It's an upper-level frame, i.e. a 3000, given that it is made with SL - aside from whatever happened to the original fork. Given the questionable fork, the mix of parts, and the overall condition, I'd place the value in the $250-350 range, assuming there isn't more crash evidence.

Thankyou very much! There is no other crash damage, would it have had campagnolo parts originally? Just wondering what SL stands for? My thoughts were that it was probably a mexican job which may have been imported to france where they might have put the mavic gear on and then possibly taken to England where the forks had failed and someone stuck some 531s on. Where some of the 80's models fitted with shimano 600 gear did i read somewhere? Thanks again!!
