'86ish Trek 1500...good value?

Is this bike a good value? I'm looking to get it for my girlfriend. Any issues with Al from this era?

https://columbus.craigslist.org/bik/1843620558.html

It would match quite well with my '86 Elance 400. Thanks.

I'd say it is. I have something a step down from that which I was planning on listing for the same price or a little more. Good parts but check the frame for loose joints (cracked paint) where they bonded the tubes. I don't know if Trek had any problems with their bonded frames but better safe than sorry.

I'm guessing more like 89-91. Yes, the 1500's were the top of Trek's line and had great components. The Alu frames are over built and bomb proof. Price is good. If it fits, go for it.

I have a 1989 Trek 1400 with all 105 group/slr brakes and i ride the hell out of it with no problems. i have put about 1700 miles on it since i got it last December for $300.00(had new tires, tubes, and tuned up and was my favorite color, blue). As luck would have it i also have a 1986 Trek Elance 400, triple. It is for my daughter and it is a small size. I got it very cheap as it needs a lot of TLC. Hope she enjoys her new ride.

I have probably 10K miles on an '88 Trek 1000 that commutes daily with no frame issues whatsoever. I don't know how much the previous 2 owners put on it.
