60's Legnano Track bike
I purchased a 60's Legnano track bike in 1972 from a US Olympic Road Team member who, in those Avery Brundage days ,needed funds for his experience. I 've ridden it for track, road, and roller racing ever since. I've never been able to positively date it and that's the reason for the reach out here. [Plus any valuation ideas available].
Serial no. FP 286 r
Campy chromed fork and rear dropouts
Metal Warrior ,Giossano Sword, head badge
Emilio Bozzi on seat tube
Six Palmeres decal seat tube
Front of lug binder bolt
Chrome head lugs and fork crown
Painted Legnano "Sausage" on down tube
I coverted from track to road use years ago[and sold the Cinelli steel bar and stem and original track wheels [dumb huh?]Current set up is: Campy record Pista crank[this was on the bike from the beginning]165, 48t inch pitch Campy chainring,18t inch pitch freewheel,Campy steel track pedals, new clips, Campy Record? headset,Fiamme 110 stem,SB randy upside down bars,Universal 68 ft brake[fork was origially drilled for it] Dura ace funtional lever and a dummy,Sakae seatpost,Wright's swallow saddle. wheels are Campy record road hubs 36,Super Champion Gentleman rims Michelin pro race tires. I owned a bike shop in Wisconsin for 35 yrs and built the wheels[DT certified wheel builder] in the late 70's when 700c was becoming available. Photos will be available if there is any interest[and I can get my camera to cooperate]I've had this baby for a long time ,but I'm starting to lose my ability to balance and I want to do right by it. Any info or advice would be much appreciated. I've seen the User "Retyred" on this community ,if anyone sees this and can turn him on to it-Please do.

As a fellow 60's Legnano Pista owner, I'd love to see pics of your bike.
From what I've been able to find, there seems to be no rhyme or reason to Legnano serial numbers.

I've seen pictures of yours from a previous thread. In fact ,that is why I decided to join the community. Mine is[or was before I roaded it] almost identical to yours. A little more paint wear. I'll try to get the photos up soon.Have you continued down the restoration road with it?

My older brother picked up a Legnano in the early 70's while we lived in Naples, Italy. On our move back to the USA, the moving company decided to strap our bikes to the back of a crate and what do you know? All bikes, to include his beloved Legnano were bent severely. Makes him sick to think of it now. That was a special, beautiful bike.
