80th Gios Track Bike, Anyone know how to appraise this?
1 Attachment(s)
I was thinking about putting this up for auction on eBay, but I don't know where to start the bidding. It's truly a one-of-its-kind. I have never seen another bike like this. I am pretty sure there are none in the US. I bought this from Alfredo Gios himself in Italy. It was just sitting in their warehouse. This was their team issue bike. I love the gussets. The ghastly platform pedals are gone. So disregard that. Campy Chorus Crank. Mavic Ellipse wheel set.

I'd start the bidding at your purchase price. Nice bike.
|
I'd start by asking in the "What's it Worth" forum... which is where this is moving to.
|
I would probably part this bike out. Sell the frameset, headset, and bottom bracket together. Then sell the wheelset, Thomson post, and crankset seperately.
Just a guess, but I would think if you have a good description and pictures and can prove the provenance of the frame you could get $600-$800 for the frameset. That would be if the frame is in really good condition, which is appears to be from the picture... |
put proper drop bar on it and start out at resonable price. high starting prices hold back bidders.
$300 and let the auction run its course |
If you have documentation like an invoice, a picture with you, bike and Alfredo... Otherwise, it will be looked at for what it presents. And I agree, ditch the parts save for the headset.
