80th Gios Track Bike, Anyone know how to appraise this?
 

I was thinking about putting this up for auction on eBay, but I don't know where to start the bidding. It's truly a one-of-its-kind. I have never seen another bike like this. I am pretty sure there are none in the US. I bought this from Alfredo Gios himself in Italy. It was just sitting in their warehouse. This was their team issue bike. I love the gussets. The ghastly platform pedals are gone. So disregard that. Campy Chorus Crank. Mavic Ellipse wheel set.

I'd start the bidding at your purchase price. Nice bike.

I'd start by asking in the "What's it Worth" forum... which is where this is moving to.

I would probably part this bike out. Sell the frameset, headset, and bottom bracket together. Then sell the wheelset, Thomson post, and crankset seperately.

Just a guess, but I would think if you have a good description and pictures and can prove the provenance of the frame you could get $600-$800 for the frameset. That would be if the frame is in really good condition, which is appears to be from the picture...

put proper drop bar on it and start out at resonable price. high starting prices hold back bidders.

If you have documentation like an invoice, a picture with you, bike and Alfredo... Otherwise, it will be looked at for what it presents. And I agree, ditch the parts save for the headset.
