Value of 1992 Bridgestone RB-1 Excellent Condition - All original except pedals...

Hi folks...

I'm interested in buying a 1992 Bridgestone RB-1 from a private party. Asking price is $600. Granted we're located in the SF/Bay Area where bikes are at a high demand and things are just more expensive...but it still seems a bit steep. Bike is in excellent condition and all original except for the pedals. What's it worth???
Thanks!
e...

Hi

If this is any help I sold a 56cm 1990 Bridgestone RB1 frameset for $300. Frame, fork headset only. in San Francisco. I think 600 is a fine price for an all original RB1.

I sold one that had been refitted with full Ultegra 10 speed for $1200 on ebay. It was my first flip and basically got me to fall in love with vintage bikes. I may have made more on that bike that all the bikes since, but I still kind of wish I has kept it...

Thanks guys...i got it...it's an awesome bike...all original except pedals and in really good shape...only bummer is a scratch on the top tube but obviously doesn't effect the ride...frame is undamaged - no dents etc...fits and rides like a champ...may eventually change out the saddle if it's too uncomfortable...but i love that it looks almost exactly like the picture in the 1992 Bridgestone catalog...yay!!!

You do understand you're expected to post pictures now, right? The above thread is a reasonable place to do it.

I had a 50cm '92 RB1, bought new in the 1990s. Absolutely LOVED that bike. It was the best fitting bike ever (relaxed seat angle, not too long for this woman rider) and I put thousands of miles on it before it was wrecked when I got hit by a car.

I paid $425 for mine in 1992. LBS guy said nobody was buying 'em. Imagine that! People made fun of the toe-clips and the "fat" tires.

Enjoy it. The only things I didn't like about the bike was the feeling of the bar-end cables under the wrap, which I could feel through my gloves on long century rides, and occasionally bumping my thigh into the shifter on hard city stops. But I still prefer bar-ends to brifters. I even took it on dirt roads. If I could find one in my size at that price, I'd be all over it.

i'm really digging the bar end shifters...they're accurate and will hopefully last a long time...the "fat" tires make sense for where i'm riding...i think the bike when new was equipped with 28 tires...mine has with 26 and they are great going over crappy city pavement and potholes...geometry is great...bike is pretty darn fast...hope to have this bike forever...
