Advice for Selling a bike

I have a 1993 Trek 520 Touring bike. It is in excellent condition. At first I thought I would sell it for $135, but I heard back from someone who said that is way to little. This person said he's seen them go for $300-$500.

I know most of you are very experienced in this arena, how can I know what the bike is worth? Any advice would be most appreciated!

Well the first step is to post pictures of the bike. Even without the pictures I would agree with your friend. Vintage steel treks are fairly sought after right now and the 520 was no slouch. I am no trek expert, but I believe it was their top of the line touring model. Depending on the condition and your market, I think it could probably fetch somewhere in that $300-$500 if it's all cleaned up and you post a good ad.

+1 $500 bike in super clean, ready to ride condition. But you need to be able to write a good ad, and post full size pictures. Otherwise, you are not likely to get full market value. Pictures sell bikes, and we are not talking the small crap pictures that Craigs List puts up. You have to host them on another site, and paste them into the text of your ad.
