Oldish Bridgestone bike.
I'm not really looking for an appraisal here; I'm more just interested in any details about this kind of bike.
I paid $20 for it, and it mostly works, but needs a little love. I plan to put a rack on and use it as a neighborhood bike. Maybe eventually it'll get an IGH of some kind. For now it'll get a new chain and maybe a new freewheel and i also need to replace the crank(s) as one of them is a bit bent-ish.
Anyway, what I know is that it's pretty heavy (lots of steel), it's called a Bridgestone, and there are stickers all over saying it was made in Japan. I suspect it's nothing special, but I quite like it so far.

Your shifter is a lot different, looks like you have steel bars. Lots of differences.
Look up the date codes on your components. Yours is quite a bit older.
+1 But at $20, great.

Any Bridgestone for $20 is a bargain. The improvements you are proposing are modest, I would move forward with them. This should make a good neighborhood rider.
