Bianchi Axis (Celeste Blue, lugged steel frame)

A local CL seller has a pretty clean Bianchi Axis cyclocross bike. I rode it the other day, but at $350, I'm thinking it's priced a little higher - at least higher than I'd like to pay.

It's celeste, the frame is lugged, made of Tange Cro-Mo. It's a 7 speed with a triple crank. Shifters are barcons and the brakes are Dia Compe cantilevers with aero levers. The brakes feel a little gummy, but maybe they just need to be lubed. Shifting was excellent and the gearing is very wide. The weight felt like it was in the mid-20's.

It's very clean - a garage queen, I'm told, but it does has have superficial rust on the waterbottle cage bolts and headset.

The seat is a lycra comfort seat and it's sporting a pair of new Kenda cross tires.

The fit is a little off - but I blame that on the stem. It felt very upright, but the stem is short and tall.

I think it's early to mid 90's based on this thread:

What do you think is a good price? Thanks!

If I got for it, I foresee myself riding her as-is until I get time and cash to convert to a threadless stem.

Hello

a Tange ChroMoly frame is likely a '89ish. alot of the early '90s had suntour bits. can you get a few pics and/or more information on the components?
if it is a "garage queen" and your size buy it at $350.

this one? http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/bik/1862489204.html that looks like a pretty tall frame but if it gits buy it!

Yes - that's the one.
I didn't get a good list of components. I think it was Suntour Superbe Pro.
What do you think about the price? The bike was the features I'd like to have (triple crank, bar end shifters, cantilever brakes, aero levers, light-ish lugged frame), but I was thinking I could get into a similiarly spec'd bike for $250ish. I think being a celeste Bianchi anchors this bike's value, but $350? I'm on the fence at this price...

it would not be SuperbePro those are road components. I believe this bike has XCE components. it is not an Italian road bike but the fact that is Celeste may make th eprice a bit high. I would not commement on the value without better pics. but considering what I paid for garage queen '89 equinox with less then 100mi this is a steal.

If you can buy a similar bike for $250, go for it. But a Celeste Bianchi with nice components, in supposed great shape? $350 is a decent price. Someone is likely to grab it.
