Its a discount store bike, made by Columbia. Columbia supplied cheap bikes to various discount stores during the 60s and 70s. Best way to get value out of it is to ride it. In fresh, ready to ride condition, around here, I might get $30 or $40 for it.

Seller is making it up when he calls this bike custom built. At most, Columbia made it, and stuck a Montgomery Wards decal on it. It is not collectible.

Unless you are in some red hot market, if I could back out on the deal, I would.

60 is a lot better for that bike, as long as you ride it and don't hope to make a profit if you sell it....

I know its a low end bike. I have a mt.bike and to see this.road bike in very good condition makes me think 60 dollars and a tune up will make this.a.long lasting bike to add a road bike into my gear!

depending on what kind of MTN bike you have it may be better on the road than this Columbia. it is not what most people would call a "road bike" it is a department store 10speed.

They are not very good. They used cheap parts, hard to adjust, very heavy, don't stop well. Spend some time looking and for the same budget, you should be able to get an older bike shop brand. And for a real thrifty buy, consider an older good MTB. Put slicks on it, and it will be faster, lighter, stop much better, basically do everything better than a department store bike.

I'm trying to buy my first road bike since the free spirit I had as a pre-teen. Some of the guys here have really helped me out as I started out having little to no idea what I was looking at, just wanted something half-way race appropriate in the same price range you're looking. I test rode an old Murray today, seemed very similar to what you're looking at up there. I was amazed at how bad it felt riding it. It's the forth bike I test drove. The first two I should have bought but had not learned enough yet to realize how nice they were. Even the rust-bucket Raleigh Record with nearly flat tires gave indications of how nice it once was. Listen well to these guys, I've learned quickly they know what they're talking about. BTW passed on the Murray even though the guy only wanted $10 for it. I feel lucky I just happened to see it at a yard sale while riding around with no cash on me or may have eneded up buying it anyway.
