What's my '81 Bianchi Specialissima worth?
Thinking of doing something drastic.
Component list:
Specialissima Columbus celeste frame and fork. Minor scratches through the paint
It could have been a Super Corsa/Leggera because of the chromed lugs, but the original parts are gone.
Sugino Super Mighty crank w/ drillium' 52/42.
NR FD, shift levers and headset
Suntour Cyclone RD
Weinmann Carrera brake levers and calipers, cane creek hoods.
Avocet seatpost (and I'd put the avocet seat back on it)
Shimano 600/matrix wheels, 7s
Specialized 700x18 tires (recent addition)
No pedals
Pics right below.
I'd like to know what I could pull at market, or if I should just part it out. I find that I'm riding it less and less in fear that I'll damage it.

I thought you just bought it and fell in love with it? certainly it is a bike that needs to be sold whole. it is worth what you just paid for it plus about $30 for sweat and labor to clean it up. (what size was it?)

Its an oddball bike from a marketing perspective. I'd imagine most high end Bianchi buyers want a uniform group thats preferably all Campy.
Sugino?
Avocet?
Suntour?
Shimano?
Weinmann?
Specialized?
Honestly, I dont see that bike getting any more as a complete bike than as a frameset. $400 as a complete bike?

but looking at the catalogs most Bianchis, and I suspect lots of other early to late '80s bikes came with mixed "kits"

Ah I really had a weak moment and had my eye on another bike. Probably because my Bianchi is at my father's house right now. I saw it yesterday, and oh man am I keeping it. I'm probably going to get more suitable wheels for it.
