Vintage Celeste Bianchi - lots of questions
 

I was gifted a beautiful Vintage Bianchi (i'm thinking early to mid 80's). Very good condition, only about 500 self-reported miles logged onto it. And i have no idea its value, its model and want to sell it as i dont ride it and just moved to NYC.... it is expensive up here.

I have attached some pictures, and any insights would be appreciated.

I know this is a first post, and if this is not the appropriate place, moderators please advise and any direction is appreciated as well.

It has some Campagnolo components and 105 brake calipers. After cleaning her up I'd try to get $400 for her around my area (Wash D.C.) but might take $300. In NYC you could start her at $500 - but be willing to take $400.

Hello welcome to the forums. this is the correct place to post this. nice looking Bianchi, too bad you can't move to Stamford Ct or Elmira where you can enjoy it.

I have a few questions. what is the tubing sticker on the seat tube say? also what brand are the dropouts and forkends? rims and hubs?

judging by the decals this looks like an '84/85ish Bianchi but most of the parts have been changed. I think all that is original is the shifters, derailleurs and possibly the bubs. the cranks are late '80 early '90s Chorus or later Athena. the daul pivot 105 brakes first came along in '92 I believe and that seat pin does not look original.
I think depending on the frame material and the dropouts maybe $300 is a fair price for this depending what model the frame is.

Actually most of it is Bianchi, with the fork and drop outs both being original. There is no discerning sticker that would give model number. I can double check when i get home, but am 95% sure there is not a decal. Mavic Rims and wheels. It is heavy steel as well...

I do not understand something here. most of what is a Bianchi? the fork looked original and I assumed the dropouts were original as most people do not replace actual frame parts. I was curious as to wether they were suntour, Campagnolo, Bianchi or Gipiemmme.

I can tell the model decal is missing I was hoping the decal on the seattube was a Columbus decal of sometype. most anyone can tell the frame is steel just by looking at the bike. the question is is it OK steel or good steel.

Mavic rims and wheels? so the hubs are mavic too?

+1 I don't understand that either. Most of the bike is not Bianchi. Bianchi, like the rest of the bicycle world, at most made the frame. Weigh the bike. Heavy is a bad sign. Prices above are not for heavy bikes.

Self reported miles really mean nothing. Its all about condition. I have bought bikes that probably only had 20 miles on them, but were stored poorly, so were pretty much shot. I have bought other bikes with really high mileage, but they were well taken care of, and looked new.

The bike above appears to be in pretty nice condition. That's what I would stress.
